scream like a baby

I couldn't fall asleep last night, well, until after 2am... and I am meant to get up at 6.30am if I am to cycle to work. I haven't cycled to work for a couple of weeks now. But that's obvious, because my mood is as low as it could be without being catatonic. I had no money on me, so wasn't sure how I was going to get to work today. I decided to ask my neighbour if I could get a lift with her. She agreed. Which was nice.

This neighbour is one of a married couple on the same floor as me. I should be delighted for them, and I guess I am, in a way.... but when she told me she was pregnant with their first baby all I could think of was the noise. We have walls like paper. Oh My God. What is studying for my PhD going to be like? I am going to speak with the husband and see if we can get insulation put onto the adjoining walls of both flats. It won't block all the noise out, but hopefully with earplugs I should be able to get some sleep.

If not, that will be the last straw, and I will sell up and move flat.
