scream like a baby

This neighbour is one of a married couple on the same floor as me. I should be delighted for them, and I guess I am, in a way.... but when she told me she was pregnant with their first baby all I could think of was the noise. We have walls like paper. Oh My God. What is studying for my PhD going to be like? I am going to speak with the husband and see if we can get insulation put onto the adjoining walls of both flats. It won't block all the noise out, but hopefully with earplugs I should be able to get some sleep.
If not, that will be the last straw, and I will sell up and move flat.

Oh boy - do you have the full 9 months to prepare?
Thanks for the link to the Hayward exhibition - looks amazing. Will have to check it out next time I am there...
Barnaby - no, she is 4 months pregnant, so I only have 5month... March. Pah. Bugger. Baby-screams can go through brick walls, let alone paper. Oh, well, I'll see what happens when I speak to the husband about sound-proofing.
Cork tiles are nice cheap way of soundproofing a wall.
SCM aka screemb
SCM. Yeah, that's probably true. But I think you can get thick oily cardboard sheets that are specifically for walls. I have a feeling (these words may come back to haunt me) that they are pretty cheap. I'll find out soon enough. My plan is to do it over Christmas break.
